Abstract

The influence of reading on child’s language The article presents an attempt to develop methods of research showing the impact of multi-dimensional reading on the child’s language. According to the author, a multi-faceted study to measure the impact of reading on child’s language ability and disseminate the results of such studies should be implemented in order to promote reading effectively. It should be pointed out that a modern man in fact pays attention on precise figures as well as quantitative and qualitative methods. The author examined the length of child’s utterance (a number of words), an exact number and the average number of words included in the utterance, frequency and an increase of vocabulary, fluency (a number and types of pauses), repetition of words and phrases, a number of words and unfinished words and a number of elements in texts for children.

prof. dr hab., pracownik Instytutu Filologii Polskiej Uniwersytetu Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej. Jest autorką trzech monografii: Wariantywność polskiej fleksji (współautor. z T. Skubalanką, Wrocław 1992); Wariantywność fleksji w historii i gwarach języka polskiego (Lublin 1994); Wacław Potocki i jego Ogród, ale nieplewiony (Lublin 2009), ponad stu artykułów naukowych oraz opublikowała wiele prac pod swoją redakcją. Zajmuje się językoznawstwem historycznym i synchronicznym. Ostatnio podjęła badania z zakresu pragmatyki językowej (przygotowała m.in. zajęcia fakultatywne z języka pisarzy, roli kobiety w języku i kulturze, języka agresji, języka pisarzy regionu). Wypromowała doktora i ponad 200 magistrów filologii polskiej, ponad 70 licencjatów. Prowadzi zajęcia na studiach doktoranckich, magisterskich i licencjackich na kierunku filologia polska i logopedia. W latach 1996–2002 pełniła funkcję prodziekana Wydziału Humanistycznego, 2002–2005 – senatora Senatu UMCS, 1996–2005 – członka Senackiej Komisji ds. Dydaktyki i Wychowania. W latach 2000–2012 uczestniczyła w 25 konferencjach naukowych, współorganizowała 8 konferencji z cyklu: „Spotkania Lubelskich Językoznawców” (z Katedrą Języka Polskiego KUL) i 4 konferencje Dni Lublina w Poznaniu (wraz z UAM i KUL). W latach 2000–2008 była opiekunem Kolegium Nauczycielskiego w Radomiu. Wielokrotnie brała udział jako recenzentka w przewodach doktorskich, habilitacyjnych i na stopień naukowy profesora.
