Abstract
Towards Postsecular Humanities?
The article is a review of the two-volume publication Literatura a religia – wyzwania
epoki świeckiej [Literature and Religion – Challenges of the Secular Age, edited by Łukasz
Tischner and Tomasz Garbol (vol. I) and Łukasz Tischner and Agnieszka Bielak (vol. II)
(Kraków: Jagiellonian University Publishing House, 2020). The publication brings an indepth characterization of the research field of “literature and religion,” taking into account the diversity of cultural and methodological traditions, the locality of approaches and the individual dimension of interpretation. It creates a “map of faith and unbelief” of post-war Polish literature, free of preliminary hierarchies, which is sensitive to the diversity of aesthetic-ideological attitudes towards (Western) Christianity as the leading
tradition in the Polish culture
